Yangshan Port Multi modal Transport Water Transfer Import and Export Bi directional Connection

On January 27th, two containers loaded with the product name "low-density polyethylene" completed the import procedures for multimodal transportation at Yangshan Port in Shanghai, and were directly unloaded at Taicang Port through water transportation. On the same day, a container loaded with hydraulic cylinders, oil cylinders, and a container loaded with rocking chairs and stools completed the export declaration for multimodal transportation at Taicang Port in Jiangsu and Chengxi Port in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, respectively. They were then transported to Yangshan Port in Shanghai and loaded onto mainline vessels for shipment, achieving bidirectional connection between multimodal transportation and underwater transfer. Under the new model, enterprises only need to complete the full process procedures in one go at the place of entry or departure, and can travel smoothly from one order to the end. According to estimates, the overall customs clearance time of multimodal transport mode has been shortened by 30%, and the comprehensive logistics cost of enterprises has been reduced by about 15% -20%.

Shanghai Customs has taken the initiative to promote and guide the first batch of pilot projects of Shanghai Port Group Yangtze River Multimodal Transport Co., Ltd. to complete the filing and declaration operations, optimize the operation process to achieve embedded and seamless supervision, and further reduce logistics costs and increase efficiency, based on the characteristics of simplified multimodal transport declaration, more flexible logistics, and adaptability to more transportation modes.

Yang Yanbin, Deputy General Manager of the Production Business Department of Shanggang Group, stated that Yangshan Port, as a hub port, has advantages such as dense international routes and wide domestic hinterland. Through water to water multimodal transport, this product uses the same multimodal transport document throughout the entire process, truly realizing the "one document system" and "one box system", which will effectively improve the efficiency of goods transportation, reduce costs for enterprises, and attract more customers to choose multimodal transport mode.
