Wan Chai Customs Seizes Endangered Species of Stone Coral with Flying Holes Photo

Recently, Wan Chai Customs under Gongbei Customs seized approximately 472.9 grams of endangered coral products through travel inspection channels.

On December 28th last year, during the supervision of outbound passengers' luggage at the Wan Chai Port, customs officers discovered abnormal baggage inspection images of a Macau passenger. After inspection, the customs officer found 2 suspected coral products weighing approximately 472.9 grams in the bag carried by the passenger. Recently, according to the technical center of Gongbei Customs, the two coral products were identified as species of the order Actinopterygii in the subclass Actinopterygii of the class Actinopterygii. All species of the Caryophylla order are listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and are prohibited for export by the country.

Customs reminder: According to relevant laws and regulations, it is prohibited to bring endangered species and their products into or out of the country, except for those who legally hold import and export certificates for wild animals and plants. Those who illegally import, export or smuggle endangered wild animals and plants and their products in other ways shall be punished by the customs in accordance with relevant regulations; If the circumstances are serious enough to constitute a crime, criminal responsibility shall be pursued in accordance with the law.
