On January 8th, two passengers modified electric vehicle seat cushions and smuggled 64 old mobile phones into the country through Gongbei Port, but were caught on the spot by the Gongbei Customs.
At around 12:00 pm on the same day, Hong Kong man Huang entered the country by electric vehicle through the customs' "green channel" at the Gongbei Port Inspection Hall and was intercepted by on-site customs officers. The customs officer found that the seat cushion of the car was abnormal and suspected to have a hard object hidden inside, so a key inspection was carried out. Subsequently, the customs officers seized 24 neatly stacked old mobile phones from inside the seat cushions. At around 3 pm, customs officers intercepted and searched a Hong Kong woman named Yang, and found 40 old mobile phones hidden using the same method inside the seat cushion of her electric bike.
Customs reminds that according to relevant regulations, those who evade customs supervision by hiding and bring goods that should be taxed according to law into the country are considered smuggling activities. If the circumstances are serious enough to constitute a crime, they will be held criminally responsible in accordance with the law. (Written by Zhu Weijun)
