By 2025, the number of China Europe freight trains arriving and departing in the SCO demonstration zone will increase by over 20%

Recently, after completing customs clearance procedures at Jiaozhou Customs under Qingdao Customs, a China Europe freight train loaded with auto parts slowly departed from the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone Multimodal Transport Center. This train, consisting of 55 cars and carrying 110 standard containers, will exit through the Alashankou Port and ultimately arrive in Brundai, Kazakhstan, with a total travel time of 7 days.

According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, 1225 China Europe freight trains will be launched in the SCO Demonstration Zone in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 20.5%. The total weight of goods transported will exceed 840000 tons, and both the number of arrivals and departures and freight volume of the trains will reach a new historical high for the same period. The types of goods carried by trains are becoming increasingly diverse, covering multiple categories such as white goods, medical equipment, and mechanical parts.

Customs has launched twelve measures to support the high-quality development of the China Europe freight train in the SCO demonstration zone, creating a fast track for the China Europe freight train and making the 'steel camel caravan' faster

Qingdao Customs innovates the "SCO Express" model, promotes the extension of terminal functions to SCO hub ports, realizes the linkage of "train+port", further reduces the clearance time of goods, and helps enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency. In response to the characteristics of goods on the China Europe freight train, Jiaozhou Customs, responsible for train supervision, has also set up a dedicated window for the China Europe freight train to handle customs clearance procedures such as declaration and inspection, achieving fast customs clearance for the China Europe freight train.

The China Europe freight train is a 'steel bridge' connecting Asia and Europe, and also a core channel for the opening up of the SCO demonstration zone to the outside world, "said Song Tao, Deputy Director of Jiaozhou Customs. Up to now, 22 international routes have been regularly operated in the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone, covering 54 cities in 23 countries of the SCO and the "the Belt and Road" Initiative, and building an international train network connecting Europe and Asia and radiating around.
