The National Retail Industry Innovation and Development Conference was held in Beijing

On December 9-10, the National Retail Industry Innovation and Development Conference was held in Beijing. The meeting focused on implementing the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, planning for innovative transformation and high-quality development of the retail industry during the 15th Five Year Plan period, promoting the formation of a joint force to accelerate the construction of a modern retail system, and adding momentum to strengthen the domestic circulation. Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping attended and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that the retail industry is a fundamental industry of the national economy, which plays an important supporting role in vigorously boosting consumption, expanding domestic demand in all aspects, and promoting sustained economic recovery and improvement. Building a modern retail system with a reasonable layout, high-quality supply, diverse formats, smart and convenient, green and low-carbon, and orderly competition is an urgent need for the innovation and transformation of the retail industry, and an effective measure to promote the adaptation of supply and demand, and the benign interaction between new supply and demand.

The meeting emphasized that significant achievements have been made in the development of the retail industry during the 14th Five Year Plan period, further enhancing its role in driving the national economy and serving the domestic circulation. Its contribution to promoting consumption and investment, ensuring people's livelihoods and employment is enormous, but it still needs to be further strengthened in terms of network layout, supply and demand adaptation, and online and offline balance. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, we must scientifically grasp the strategic opportunities and risk challenges faced by the industry's development, regard the retail industry as a key focus for cultivating a complete domestic demand system and strengthening the domestic circulation, promote the industry to shift towards quality driven and service driven development, and achieve high-quality development.

The meeting requires us to accurately grasp the relationship between upholding integrity and innovation, "change" and "unchanged", revitalizing stock and optimizing increment, "online" and "offline", and promoting innovative development of the retail industry in a coordinated manner. We must adhere to honest management, win the favor of consumers with high-quality products and services, promote the transformation of commercial facilities from space leasing to scene operation and ecological construction, and enhance the level of sustainable development. We need to learn and promote the good experiences and practices of enterprises such as Pangdonglai, and accelerate transformation and improvement. We should pay more attention to the sinking market, develop new formats, models, and scenarios, and stimulate consumer potential. We should guide both online and offline to learn from each other's strengths and beauty, promote mutual flow, complementary experiences, data exchange, and supply chain collaboration, and achieve deep integration, interdependence, and win-win coexistence.

About 100 representatives from relevant industry associations, research institutions, financial institutions, and enterprises, as well as responsible persons from 31 provinces (regions, cities) and the commerce departments of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, attended the meeting. During the conference, the attending representatives conducted policy discussions and some units exchanged typical experiences.
