Rizhao Customs seized 8.15 kilograms of illegally brought soil into the country
Recently, Rizhao Customs, a subsidiary of Qingdao Customs, seized a batch of soil illegally brought into the country, totaling 8.15 kilograms, during the inspection of the luggage and belongings of crew members disembarking from an international navigation vessel.
Soil is prone to storing various harmful organisms that can harm crops and animals, especially soil borne pathogenic microorganisms such as viruses, fungi, and bacteria. Once they enter the country, they will pose a potential threat to China's ecological security, agricultural and forestry production, and people's health. According to relevant regulations such as the Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China and the List of Animals, Plants, Their Products, and Other Quarantine Items Prohibited from Carrying or Sending into the People's Republic of China, soil and organic cultivation media are prohibited from entering the country.
