Add multi-purpose berths on the shore of Rizhao Port

Recently, berth # 17A in Shijiu Port Area of Rizhao Port has been approved for temporary external use. This berth is a 30000 ton multi-purpose berth with an annual handling capacity of 253000 tons of general cargo and 11000 TEUs of containers.

After the berth is put into use, it will further achieve precise matching between ships and berths, improve the coherence and efficiency of loading and unloading operations, and shorten the turnover time of ships. At the same time, it can ensure the timely loading, unloading, and transportation of various types of miscellaneous goods, ensuring that the production and operation of enterprises in the port and hinterland are not constrained by logistics bottlenecks, and providing strong support for the stable and smooth supply chain of the regional industrial chain.

As an important hub of the port and hinterland economy, Rizhao Port's general cargo business such as fertilizers, steel, machinery and equipment is directly related to multiple industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, and infrastructure in the local and surrounding areas. In the first three quarters of this year, the cargo throughput of Rizhao Port increased by 15.5% year-on-year. However, the Shijiu Port Area of Rizhao Port originally only had two dedicated berths for general cargo, which is no longer sufficient to meet production needs.

In order to serve the economic development of the port and hinterland, promote the transformation and upgrading of port business and the rapid and stable growth of general cargo, and create a new growth point for the throughput of Rizhao Port, Rizhao Customs has temporarily opened berths for external use, guided the construction of supervision sites and related supporting inspection equipment and facilities, ensured the early completion of the project, and timely obtained the "Port Operation License" and "Port Facility Security Compliance Certificate".
