Minister Wang Wentao holds video conference with UK Trade Secretary Kyle
On November 20th, Wang Wentao, the Minister of Commerce, held a video conference with Peter Kyle, the UK Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, as scheduled, to exchange in-depth views on the issue of Anshi Semiconductor.
Wang Wentao stated that the responsibility for the Anshi Semiconductor issue lies with the Dutch side. The Executive Order of the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs and the push by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs for the Enterprise Court to make erroneous rulings are the root causes of the turbulence and chaos in the global semiconductor supply chain. In a responsible manner, China has exempted exports for civilian purposes that comply with regulations, which has alleviated the global semiconductor supply chain crisis to a certain extent. The recent proactive suspension of the executive order by the Dutch side is the first step towards a proper resolution of the issue. We hope that the Dutch side will truly take responsibility, take practical actions as soon as possible, promote enterprises to resolve internal disputes through consultation and in accordance with the law, and create more favorable conditions for restoring the security and stability of the still fragile global semiconductor supply chain.
Kyle expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for reporting on the situation of Anshi Semiconductor and for their efforts to restore the global semiconductor supply chain. The British side also believes that the long-term solution to the problem lies in companies resolving internal disputes through negotiation. The UK is willing to communicate with the Netherlands on this matter and work together to restore global semiconductor supply chain security and stability as soon as possible.
