Leading Asia Pacific Open Cooperation to Continue Writing a New Chapter of Common Development

The 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Informal Meeting has recently come to an end.

Over the past 30 years since its inception, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has led the Asia Pacific region to be at the forefront of global open development, helping it become a major growth engine for the world economy. In the current situation where the multilateral trading system is severely impacted and unstable and uncertain factors are increasing, the Asia Pacific region is facing a choice of where to go, and Asia Pacific cooperation is facing the test of either advancing or falling behind.

China has always been an active advocate and leader of Asia Pacific cooperation, as the saying goes, 'It is difficult to rise up alone, but easy for many to follow.'.   The higher the wind and waves, the more we need to work together. The Chinese side's proposition of "holding hands" instead of "letting go" and "extending the chain" instead of "breaking the chain" has aroused widespread resonance among all parties and consolidated consensus on unity and cooperation. The 2025 APEC Leaders' Qingzhou Declaration calls for strengthening cooperation, taking concrete actions to promote economic growth, and ensuring that everyone benefits.

How to develop together and share prosperity?   How to seize new opportunities and build a sustainable tomorrow?   These important propositions systematically summarize the successful experience of Asia Pacific development, conform to the trend of the times, effectively counter the anti globalization rhetoric, point out the path for the Asia Pacific region to work together and achieve integrated development, and inspire all parties to adhere to multilateralism and free trade, and maintain confidence in an open economy.

As a responsible member of the Asia Pacific family, China has always shared opportunities and developed together with the Asia Pacific and the world, striving to establish oneself and others, and to achieve greatness. Not long ago, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China successfully concluded and approved the "15th Five Year Plan" proposal.       Shirakawa, a professor at Japan's University of Justice, said that this demonstrates China's responsibility to promote the common development of the world with Chinese path to modernization.

China's development cannot be separated from the Asia Pacific region, and it will also further benefit the Asia Pacific region. As the host of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2026, China will work with all parties to adhere to open development and mutual benefit, jointly expand the cake of Asia Pacific cooperation, build the Asia Pacific community, and write a new chapter in Asia Pacific development.
