Vice Minister Ling Ji and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations Attended the 36th APEC Ministerial Meeting

On October 30, 2025, the 36th Ministerial Meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was held in Gyeongju, South Korea. The meeting discussed topics such as enhancing supply chain resilience, promoting trade facilitation through artificial intelligence, leveraging the important role of the World Trade Organization, and advancing open multilateralism, in preparation for the 32nd APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting to be held from October 31st to November 1st. Ling Ji, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

China has always attached great importance to APEC cooperation. Currently, multilateralism and the international economic and trade order are experiencing unprecedented impacts and challenges, adding uncertainty to the development of the world economy. All parties should adhere to the original intention of APEC, promote free and open trade and investment, and ensure that there is no reversal. China welcomes the achievement of the Action Plan to Implement the New Vision Statement for the Asia Pacific Free Trade Area and actively promotes regional economic integration. The Chinese side emphasizes the need to uphold the core position of the World Trade Organization, restrain the use of trade and investment restriction measures, actively promote the reform of the World Trade Organization to achieve practical results, focus on the development connotation, and jointly promote the success of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization.

The Chinese side pointed out that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC proposed to steadily expand institutional openness and safeguard the multilateral trading system. China will be committed to developing new quality productive forces, adhering to the direction of intelligent and green integration, and accelerating innovation in digital technologies such as artificial intelligence. Welcome all parties to China next year to attend the APEC meeting and gather new wisdom and strength to deepen APEC cooperation.

Representatives from 21 economies including the United States, Russia, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, as well as relevant international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, attended the meeting.
