In the first half of the year, the export volume of automobiles at Taicang Port reached a historic high
On July 20th, under the supervision of Taicang Customs under Nanjing Customs, a roll on/roll off ship loaded thousands of domestically produced cars for export overseas. At present, the Haitong Automobile Terminal in Taicang Port is busy, with a large number of domestically produced vehicles orderly entering the roll on/roll off cabins to be shipped to various countries in Latin America and the Middle East.
According to data from Taicang Customs, in the first six months of this year, nearly 650000 cars were exported from Taicang Port to 166 countries and regions worldwide, with a year-on-year increase of about 71% in export volume, reaching a historical high. In June, about 140000 cars were exported, and the monthly export volume has exceeded 100000 for three consecutive months. At the same time, the export categories are becoming increasingly diverse, and the "going global" of automobiles is no longer limited to traditional trucks and buses. Overseas orders for different energy types of light trucks, pickups, specialized vehicles, etc. are synchronously increasing, and the rich supply of vehicle models is constantly expanding the overseas sales channels of Chinese manufacturing.
The person in charge of Haitong (Taicang) Automobile Terminal introduced that in the first half of the year, Haitong (Taicang) Automobile Terminal completed a total of 192 roll on/roll off ship operations, with an average of 7 fully loaded roll on/roll off ships departing from the port each week. In the first six months of this year, Haitong Port exported 520000 cars, a year-on-year increase of 66%.
In order to ensure the rapid clearance and smooth sailing of a large number of vehicles, Taicang Customs accurately connects with the needs of enterprises and ports, and specially sets up a dedicated window for automobile export business. It actively conducts a full process investigation of ship berthing, vehicle port collection, on-site inspection, etc. In response to the characteristics of dense automobile export batches and high delivery time requirements, a dedicated person is arranged to guide enterprises throughout the standardized clearance operation, and track the progress of port collection and loading in real time. By relying on convenient measures such as "advance declaration" and "appointment inspection", we aim to improve overall customs clearance efficiency, while also assisting the port area in expanding its car storage space to over 40000 square meters. The port's carrying capacity continues to improve, providing continuous support for domestic cars to go global. (Chen Song/Text)
