African Cashew Nut Region Integrated Access Customs' Green Channel 'Upgraded Again
In order to further expand the export of high-quality African food to China, while ensuring safety, the General Administration of Customs has comprehensively optimized the quarantine and access procedures for food exported to China, and upgraded the "green channel" for African agricultural and food products exported to China. On June 9th, the General Administration of Customs issued the Announcement on Inspection, Quarantine, and Hygiene Requirements for Imported African Cashew Nuts (Announcement No. 80 of 2026), marking the full achievement of quarantine access for cashews produced by countries with diplomatic relations in Africa to China.
Africa is the world's largest supplier of cashew nuts, and previously only a few countries such as Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, and Gambia had their cashew nuts granted quarantine access to China. After evaluation, it was found that the pest and disease situation of cashews in Africa is similar, and the risk prevention and control measures are basically the same. Therefore, unified entry inspection, quarantine, and hygiene requirements have been formulated and issued. In the future, if countries with diplomatic relations in Africa intend to export cashew nuts to China, they will no longer need to conduct quarantine and access negotiations one by one. The cashew nuts produced by them can be exported to China as long as they meet the requirements of the announcement, greatly simplifying the quarantine and access process. This measure not only firmly maintains the bottom line of food safety, but also expands the sources of cashew imports, enriches the domestic market supply, and helps deepen and implement practical cooperation in agricultural trade and economy between China and Africa.
Next, the General Administration of Customs will continue to accelerate the quarantine and access assessment of African agricultural and food products exported to China, fully implement the upgraded "green channel" facilitation measures, help more high-quality and safe African agricultural and food products enter China, enrich the domestic market supply, and better meet the diversified needs of consumers.
