China and Russia sign joint statement to jointly support open trade and multilateralism
The joint statement emphasizes that in the current international economic and trade situation, we should firmly uphold multilateralism and adhere to open and fair trade. Both sides commit to jointly resist unilateral coercive measures and trade protectionism, and oppose trade restriction measures taken under the pretext of national security, environmental protection, or addressing climate change. Both sides believe that economic and trade negotiations with third parties should not be directed towards the other party. Both sides reaffirm their support for a multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization, based on rules, non discriminatory, fair, open, inclusive, equal, sustainable, and transparent, and are committed to promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and promoting trade and investment growth. Both sides agree to strengthen coordination and cooperation on platforms such as the G20, APEC, BRICS, and Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
