Accumulatively exceeding 5 million vehicles, witnessing the deep integration of the Greater Bay Area through daily life on wheels (see picture)

Since the implementation of the "Macau cars heading north" policy, as of 10:00 on May 17th, the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge Customs under the jurisdiction of Gongbei Customs has cumulatively supervised and inspected over 5 million single license plate vehicles entering and leaving Macau, including 544000 vehicles in the first four months of this year.
Unlike the centralized and explosive growth of traffic at holiday ports, the "Macau car northbound" trend at the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge (hereinafter referred to as the Bridge Port) presents a more normalized and stable flow of "fine water, long flow" trend, becoming a daily microcosm of Macau residents' integration into the life of the Greater Bay Area. Data shows that it took 334 days for a single license plate vehicle to break through the first one million vehicles in Macau via the Bridge Port, while it only took 217 days to break through the fifth one million vehicles. This constantly accelerating set of data is a vivid footnote to the transformation of "Macau car northbound" from "trying new experiences" to "daily necessities". Cross border travel has already been upgraded to a normal choice for Macau residents for commuting, visiting relatives and friends, business exchanges, and leisure consumption. Previously, when passing through customs, one had to plan their itinerary with a sense of ceremony. Now, it's like going out to work. It's easier to come and go, "sighed Mr. Zheng, a single license plate owner in Macau." The customs clearance experience has significantly improved, and it's very convenient to clear customs in less than 20 seconds
Faced with the continuous growth of cross-border traffic, customs insists on seeking efficiency from technology and enhancing efficiency through collaboration. We have deeply applied the first national customs' top illuminated 'intelligent inspection of passenger cars, achieving' seamless customs clearance 'while accurately identifying risks, "said Xi Yuan, Deputy Director of the Customs Supervision Department of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge." Customs also collaborates with multiple departments to optimize the' one-stop 'joint inspection and release process, dynamically allocate regulatory resources during peak periods, optimize customs clearance flow, and make every effort to ensure efficient and smooth customs clearance. This efficient and collaborative regulatory model not only connects the "last mile" for single license plate vehicles from Macau to travel north, but also paves the way for the expansion and upgrading of cross-border travel policies between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
With the successive implementation of the policies of "Hong Kong trains heading north" and "Guangdong trains heading south", the Daqiao Port has moved from the initial one-way exploration of "Australian trains heading north" to a new stage of "two-way direct traffic and urban direct traffic" for the three regions. According to statistics, as of 10:00 on May 17th, the cumulative number of single license plate vehicles traveling north to Hong Kong and Macau has exceeded 9.91 million, of which 1.37 million were in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, accounting for nearly 60% of the total traffic flow at ports during the same period. At the same time, the policy of "Guangdong vehicles heading south" has been steadily promoted, and the cumulative clearance volume has exceeded 10000 vehicles.
The rolling wheels not only open up cross-border channels in physical space, carrying the "family strengths and weaknesses" of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao residents, but also drive the efficient convergence of people, logistics, information flow, etc., upgrading the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge from a transportation hub to an open gateway connecting the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the world. Combined with policies such as "flying through Zhuhai Hong Kong" and "bridge tourism", the cross-border traffic structure continues to diversify amidst the increasingly busy traffic at ports, and the international exchange heat is also constantly rising. More and more foreigners are starting to experience the unique charm of the "one hour living circle" in the Greater Bay Area through this bridge. The construction of the bridge is stunning, and the customs clearance is efficient and convenient, which makes me more willing to travel frequently to and from the Greater Bay Area for sightseeing, "said a foreign tourist in an interview during customs clearance.
From the single point breakthrough and continuous flow of "Australian cars heading north", to the two-way traffic flow and interconnection of the three regions, and then to the continuous influx of international passengers and integration into the bay area, the surging traffic flow not only connects geographical space, but also deeply promotes the connection of rules, mechanisms, industrial synergy, and life integration in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The customs will continue to optimize the customs clearance supervision mode, improve the level of customs clearance convenience, and provide more solid and powerful guarantees for promoting the efficient flow and deep integration of factors in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
