Yantai Port builds a 'golden corridor' for China Africa trade
On May 5th, at Yantai Port in Shandong Province, a batch of domestically produced construction vehicles were ready to depart. After completing customs supervision and clearance procedures, they boarded the China Africa liner that evening and departed for Guinea.
As the largest import and export port for China Africa trade in the country, Yantai Port has built a maritime "highway" for China Africa trade through its China Africa liner service. At present, Yantai Port has built a network of liner shipping routes connecting more than 20 African countries and regions.
At present, the types of goods transported by China Africa liner through Yantai Port have expanded to more than 200 categories such as project materials, machinery and vehicles, engineering building materials, agricultural inputs and fertilizers, with a stable transportation frequency of more than 10 ships per month, "said Yu Tao, Deputy Director of the Production Scheduling Center of Yantai Port Unicom International Grocery Terminal Company in Shandong Port.
The airline network is becoming increasingly dense, and customs clearance protection is continuously upgrading. In response to the industry characteristics of multiple batches, diverse categories, and long logistics chains of China Africa liner cargo, Yantai Customs has tailored a full process supervision service plan. We have innovatively launched a new export supervision model of 'classified supervision+pre tallying+centralized inspection', implementing convenient measures such as advance declaration and customs clearance appointment, realizing the 'immediate inspection and release' of goods, improving inspection efficiency by 25%, and shortening the inspection time of a single ship by 2 to 3 days, "said Yu Jianbo, Deputy Director of the Yantai Customs Port Office.
Efficient logistics channels help enterprises seize trade opportunities with Africa and inject strong momentum into China Africa economic and trade cooperation. The stable shipping routes at the port and efficient customs clearance services allow us to respond more flexibly to overseas orders. Zhao Guangxue, Deputy General Manager of Yantai Xingye Machinery Co., Ltd., who often ships goods through China Africa shipping lines, introduced that the mining equipment exported by the company has been regularly shipped every week, and the goods can reach major ports in Africa in just over 20 days, reducing shipping costs by 5% to 10% compared to before. Since 2026, the export volume of enterprises has doubled year-on-year, and the amount of newly signed contracts has increased by 138% year-on-year. The pace of expanding into the African market continues to accelerate.
