In the first two months, Gansu Province exported 1698.6 tons of seeds, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times

On March 19th, 1704 kilograms of Solanaceae seeds produced by Beijing Shuangshuo Seed Co., Ltd. Jiuquan Branch were exported to France after passing the quarantine inspection of Jiuquan Customs under Lanzhou Customs.

Relying on the snow water irrigation of Qilian Mountains and unique natural conditions, the Hexi region of Gansu Province has sufficient sunlight, no large temperature difference between day and night, dry climate, low incidence of diseases and pests, and produces seeds with full grain and strong disease resistance. It has become the largest vegetable, melon, and flower external breeding and seed production base in the country. At present, seed companies from more than 80 countries and regions around the world have established long-term and stable breeding and seed production cooperation bases in Gansu Province. There are over 100 breeding and seed production enterprises outside Gansu Province, with a seed production area of more than 70000 acres. Every spring and winter, the seed products from the Hexi Corridor are continuously transported to various parts of the world.

Strictly guarding the country's borders and building a biosafety defense line

Once pests and diseases are introduced, they not only affect enterprises, but may also cause serious damage to industries and ecology, "said Chen Zhixi, the head of the Jiuquan branch of Beijing Shuangshuo Seed Co., Ltd. Jiuquan Customs conducted field epidemic monitoring of harmful organisms in the base during the seed production growth period, guiding enterprises to scientifically prevent and control and ensuring production safety.

In response to the risk of strong concealment of harmful organisms carried by imported seeds and the difficulty of port detection, Lanzhou Customs has established a full chain closed-loop supervision system covering quarantine approval, port inspection, laboratory testing, seedling monitoring, and export inspection. Nursery monitoring and origin epidemic investigation are carried out in March April and July August each year to timely grasp the distribution of pests and diseases, prevent the invasion of foreign organisms, and ensure the safe development of the industry.

Optimize services to improve clearance efficiency

While strictly adhering to the safety bottom line, Lanzhou Customs continues to optimize customs clearance services to help accelerate the export of external breeding and seed production.

Jiuquan Customs actively promotes the establishment of the Jiuquan Seed Technical Trade Measures Research and Evaluation Base, participates in the research of seed related technical trade measures, and enhances the adaptability to the international market, "said Weng Huanmin, the director of Jiuquan Customs. At the same time, Lanzhou Customs and Jiuquan Municipal Government jointly built a public testing platform for imported seeds, optimized the testing process, compressed testing time, and opened appointment clearance. They also implemented the "small batch centralized inspection" model, realizing the "cloud issuance" of certificates, allowing enterprises to complete declaration, review, and visa application without leaving their homes.

In the first two months of this year, Gansu Province exported 1698.6 tons of seeds, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times; The total export value was 180 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%. From the Hexi Corridor to the global market, Gansu's external breeding and seed production industry is steadily moving towards a broader international stage.
