The Ministry of Commerce held a roundtable meeting for British funded enterprises
On January 22nd, Ling Ji, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, presided over a roundtable meeting for British funded enterprises. British Trade Ambassador to China, Niles, as well as representatives from 30 British funded enterprises and associations, including the UK China Business Council, Swire Group, HSBC, and InterContinental Hotels, attended the conference. The relevant departments of the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration for Financial Regulation attended the meeting and responded on-site to the questions and demands raised by enterprises.
Ling Ji stated that in recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between China and the UK has steadily grown, demonstrating both resilience and vitality. Both sides have complementary industrial advantages, and should continuously deepen trade and investment cooperation, adhere to win-win cooperation, give full play to the role of economy and trade as a ballast and propeller for China UK relations, and jointly maintain a fair and reasonable international economic and trade order.
Ling Ji pointed out that the Chinese economy is making steady progress and moving towards innovation and excellence, providing a broad development stage for foreign-funded enterprises. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, China will focus on expanding the opening up of the service industry. As a major service trading country, the UK welcomes British funded enterprises to seize the opportunity of China's independent opening up of the service industry and expand investment in areas such as consumption, green transformation, and technological innovation. China will work with the UK to promote cooperation in the service industry and create new growth points for the economic and trade relations between the two countries.
Ni Lesi stated that economic and trade relations are of great importance to the UK China relationship, and the UK's modern industrial strategy is highly compatible with China's "15th Five Year Plan" proposal, which is conducive to expanding cooperation areas between the two countries. British funded enterprises attending the meeting expressed that the Chinese market has enormous potential and the business environment is constantly improving. The "15th Five Year Plan" has further enhanced their confidence in long-term investment and operation in China, and made positive contributions to the development of economic and trade relations between the UK and China.
