Last year, the total import and export value of Shaanxi Province reached a historical high of 537.97 billion yuan, ranking second in the country in terms of growth rate

On January 21st, Li Jinsheng, Deputy Director of Xi'an Customs, stated at a press conference held by the Provincial Government Information Office that in 2025, Shaanxi's foreign trade will develop towards a new and better direction, with a stable foundation that continues to consolidate and a growing momentum of progress.

In 2025, the total import and export value of the province will reach 537.97 billion yuan, a historic high in scale, with a year-on-year growth rate of 18.5%, ranking second in the country in terms of growth rate and 14.7 percentage points higher than the national average. Among them, exports amounted to 373.76 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%; Imports amounted to 164.21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%.

The scale growth rate has reached new highs. From the perspective of monthly trends, since April last year, Shaanxi's imports and exports have maintained a scale of over 40 billion yuan for nine consecutive months, with imports and exports exceeding 50 billion yuan and 60 billion yuan in November and December respectively, setting new historical highs. From the quarterly trend, despite a slight decrease of 1.5% in imports and exports in the first quarter, the market stabilized and rebounded in the second and third quarters, with a growth rate of 37.4% in the fourth quarter, reaching a new quarterly growth rate since 2019. From the perspective of the entire 14th Five Year Plan period, Shaanxi's annual import and export scale has continuously reached two levels of 400 billion yuan and 500 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 6.5%, demonstrating strong resilience and vitality.

The circle of friends in foreign trade continues to expand. In 2025, South Korea and ASEAN will maintain Shaanxi's first and second largest trading partners, with imports and exports to South Korea worth 87.38 billion yuan and imports and exports to ASEAN worth 86.89 billion yuan, an increase of 4.5% and 19% respectively year-on-year. Among the major trading partners, Taiwan, China, the European Union and Hong Kong, China are growing rapidly. Among them, the import and export to Taiwan, China, China was 71.73 billion yuan, the import and export to the EU was 61.69 billion yuan, and the import and export to Hong Kong, China was 38.55 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth of 69.1%, 39.2%, and 48.6% respectively. Emerging markets also maintained growth momentum, with imports and exports to Africa and Central Asia increasing by 55.4% and 37.2% respectively year-on-year. The number of trading partners in Shaanxi has reached 217, an increase of 21 during the 14th Five Year Plan period.

Business entities are more dynamic. By 2025, there will be 5953 foreign trade enterprises in Shaanxi with import and export performance, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%. The import and export of private enterprises reached 186.94 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%. The import and export of foreign-funded enterprises reached 313.74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.6%. The import and export of state-owned enterprises reached 35.92 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%.

The role of port opening hubs is more prominent. In 2025, the customs will supervise 15000 inbound and outbound flights, a year-on-year increase of 44.5%. The import and export through air transportation will be 289.6 billion yuan, accounting for 53.8% of the total import and export value of the province. In 2025, the Shaanxi China Europe freight train will operate 6037 natural trains, a year-on-year increase of 21.1%, ranking first in the country in terms of operating volume for seven consecutive years. The import and export volume through railway transportation will reach 43.99 billion yuan, accounting for 8.2% of the province's total import and export value.
