On the morning of January 14th, at the Chongqing Nanpeng Road Bonded Logistics Center (Type B), cross-border road buses carrying "Chongqing made" products such as motorcycle parts and general machinery on the Western Land Sea New Corridor were quickly inspected and released by the Liangjiang Customs under Chongqing Customs before heading towards the border ports of Guangxi and Yunnan. They could arrive in ASEAN countries such as Vietnam and Laos within 48 hours at the fastest.

Such busy scenes have become the norm. Data shows that by 2025, the cumulative number of cross-border highway shuttle buses on the Western Land Sea New Corridor will exceed 12000, with a transportation value exceeding 17 billion yuan, an increase of 91% and 306% year-on-year, respectively. The scale of operation and value of goods will both reach a historical high. This efficient and flexible international land route is becoming an important engine for enterprises in Chongqing and surrounding areas to expand into the ASEAN market.

In 2025, we will support the opening of the GMS international road transportation route from Chongqing to Chumphon, Thailand, further strengthening the international logistics network facing ASEAN. ”Xiao Sa, the head of the Monitoring Department of Liangjiang Customs, said. As of now, Chongqing has formed a three-dimensional transportation network of cross-border road buses with "3 directions, 12 lines, 25 ports, and 39 overseas distribution warehouses".

Previously, when shipping mechanical parts from Chongqing to Chumphon, Thailand, traditional road transportation usually took more than 6 days, and the unstable arrival time often affected production, "said the person in charge of a freight forwarding company in Chongqing." After the opening of the GMS route, it can be delivered to the factory in less than 5 days, which is nearly a week faster than sea transportation, reducing transit time and inventory pressure, as well as reducing the risk of production stagnation caused by delayed parts. ”

2025 is the year with the fastest development of shuttle buses, "said Wang Lei, the person in charge of Chongqing Gongyun ASEAN International Logistics Co., Ltd." The number of shuttle buses has been increasing year by year, and the number of cooperative enterprises has also grown from about 100 at the beginning of the year to more than 120 now. Many 'Chongqing made' products have opened up the international market through cross-border shuttle buses

The rapid development of shuttle buses has benefited from the policy support of customs. Chongqing Customs has launched measures such as "7 × 24 hour" scheduled customs clearance and the opening of "green inspection" channels to meet the development needs of cross-border highway shuttle buses, achieving "inspection and release upon report and inspection" and fully ensuring the efficient passage of shuttle buses. In addition, as the leading unit of the direct customs cooperation mechanism along the Western Land Sea New Corridor, Chongqing Customs has actively strengthened its linkage and cooperation with customs in Nanning, Kunming and other places, continuously promoting the implementation and effectiveness of regulatory mutual recognition and data sharing mechanisms, and comprehensively improving the level of customs clearance convenience.

Next, Chongqing Customs will continue to deepen regulatory innovation, optimize services for enterprises, and promote cross-border road buses to play a greater role in facilitating international supply chains and supporting Chongqing's better integration into the domestic and international dual circulation, contributing to the construction of an inland open comprehensive hub.
