China Customs is the Chairman of the APEC Customs Procedures Subcommittee in 2026. Zhao Zenglian, Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Customs, stated on the same day that the total economic output of the Asia Pacific region has exceeded 60% of the world's total, and the total trade volume is close to half of the world's. This dynamic region is not only the engine of world economic growth, but also carries the expectations of common development among countries and regions.
Customs is an important gateway and bridge for opening up to the outside world, as well as a regulator and guardian of international trade. We optimize regulatory efficiency and service levels through innovation, build consensus among all parties through cooperation, promote regional security and prosperity, and jointly build the Asia Pacific community. Our mission is on our shoulders and we are duty bound, "said Zhao Zenglian.
In order to jointly promote trade security and convenience in the Asia Pacific region, China Customs has taken this meeting as an opportunity to issue three initiatives to the customs of APEC economies: focusing on inclusiveness, deeply implementing the "Smart Customs" partnership plan, deepening cooperation in various fields such as paperless trade, cross-border e-commerce, and green trade, and continuously releasing more open dividends; Focus on stabilizing and smoothing the chain, strengthen institutional coordination and standard docking, and actively promote the "soft connectivity" of rules and standards; Highlight the empowerment of digital intelligence, accelerate digital transformation and intelligent upgrading, and enhance the level of modern customs governance.
It is reported that the conference will last for three days. Adhering to the theme of "Building an Asia Pacific Community and Promoting Common Prosperity", focusing on the three priority areas of "openness, innovation, and cooperation", and focusing on hot topics such as technology and innovation, smart customs construction, and cross-border trade facilitation, more than 100 representatives from customs, international organizations, academia, and business circles from 18 APEC economies attended the conference.
