Recently, after 40 days of rigorous investigation, the Anti Smuggling Bureau of Beijing Customs successfully cracked a series of cross-border smuggling cases of famous brand watches, dismantled a smuggling criminal network that has been active in many parts of China and overseas for a long time, and seized a large number of high-end Rolex and other brands involved in the case, with a total value of more than 5.2 million yuan, effectively safeguarding national tax security and airport entry and exit order.

The police officer of the special task force introduced that the smuggling gang presents the characteristics of "tight organization, refined division of labor, and complete chain". The core culprit, Lin, has long settled overseas and, with his resources in the luxury goods industry, specializes in purchasing high-end watches from brands such as Rolex in Europe and other places, building a stable overseas supply channel. In order to evade customs supervision, Lin used the "carrying fee" of 800 yuan per watch as bait, targeting international tour guides, tour group leaders, and other groups who frequently travel back and forth between China and abroad, gradually developing multiple fixed "carrying personnel".

It is worth noting that the gang uses a covert smuggling technique of "ant moving", which is highly deceptive. After receiving the watch overseas, the "carrier" will hide it in their backpack or wear it directly on their wrist disguised as personal belongings to get by. After entering the country, the "carrier" will immediately deliver the watch to Beijing or other temporary hiding places, and then mail it to buyers across the country. Some high-value watches will be sent by dedicated personnel on domestic flights to cities such as Chengdu and Hangzhou before being mailed, forming a complete criminal chain of "overseas procurement personal smuggling domestic transit distribution national sales".

Faced with the characteristics of covert gang actions, uncertain whereabouts, and extensive distribution networks, the special police team successively traveled to Beijing, Chengdu, Hangzhou and other five cities within 40 days, carrying out simultaneous arrests in multiple places, successively cracked seven related smuggling cases, captured seven suspect, destroyed the whole chain smuggling network from cross-border, transportation to sales, effectively cracked down on the arrogance of smugglers, and maintained the normal entry-exit order of the capital airport and the national tax security.

The Beijing Customs Anti Smuggling Bureau reminds that behaviors such as personal hiding and luggage hiding to evade customs supervision and evade payable taxes are all illegal and criminal acts of smuggling. Do not act as "water customers" for petty gains and risk the law. Consumers should purchase imported goods through formal channels, jointly resist smuggling activities, and maintain a good market economic order.
