The New Year's gift has arrived in Hong Kong
On December 30th, a busy crowd gathered at the designated supervision site for imported fruits in Haicang Port Area, Xiamen. After passing inspection by Xiamen Customs, boxes of Chilean cherries and Thai durians were quickly transported to cold chain logistics vehicles and will be supplied to the market as "New Year's gift fruits" as soon as possible. They will soon be served on the holiday tables of citizens on Ludao Island.
On the eve of New Year's Day, the festive atmosphere gradually intensified, and the popularity of fruit consumption continued to rise. Xiamen Port also ushered in a peak of imported fruit arrivals. As an important distribution center for imported fruits in Fujian Province, Xiamen Port has become the preferred choice for many fruit import enterprises due to its efficient and convenient customs clearance services and complete cold chain logistics support. The reporter learned from Xiamen Customs that from December 15th to 28th, Xiamen Port imported 4382.93 tons of fruits, a year-on-year increase of 47.47%. Among them, the import volume of popular categories such as fresh lychee, fresh durian, and fresh banana increased by more than 75% month on month.
In order to prepare for the New Year's market, popular varieties such as Chilean cherries and Thai durians have seen a significant increase in import volume recently. Thanks to the stable and efficient customs clearance services, fruits can now be inspected and released within half a day after arrival at the port, greatly reducing the cost of preservation, "said the customs officer of Xiamen Taicheng Customs Declaration Co., Ltd. In the two weeks leading up to the holiday, the value of imported fruits represented by the company at Xiamen Port exceeded 8 million yuan, a month on month increase of 28.74%.
To ensure that imported fruits compete for "freshness" in the market, Xiamen Customs has opened an integrated "online+offline" consultation channel, assigned dedicated personnel to meet the import needs of enterprises, and tailored regulatory plans based on the characteristics of fresh fruits such as perishability, high logistics timeliness requirements, and extreme sensitivity to environmental temperature. At the same time, the customs will establish an immediate response mechanism and upgrade the appointment inspection mode to "inspection upon appointment, inspection upon arrival, and priority inspection", ensuring that fruits are released in compliance with regulations through "full process monitoring" and "immediate availability".
