As the Spring Festival approaches, the streets and alleys of Macau are adorned with festive New Year decorations, and the "spring spirit" from neighboring Zhuhai and Zhongshan is gradually arriving. On the morning of February 3rd at 6 o'clock, workers were shuttling between flower sheds at the Xinxiangjin Flower and Wood Farm in Henglan Town, Zhongshan City, sorting out the branches and fruits of the New Year oranges, pruning the peach branches that were about to bloom, and carefully packing chrysanthemums and daffodils with auspicious meanings.

Before the Spring Festival, it is the peak period for supplying annual flowers to Macao, and the order volume of our base is very considerable, "said Lin Genrui, the person in charge of Xinxiang Jinhua Woodyard in Henglan Town, Zhongshan City." Macao compatriots especially love varieties such as New Year oranges and chrysanthemums, which symbolize auspiciousness and festive colors. The demand for municipal flower beds and decoration by major enterprises is also very strong. We have prepared high-quality goods in advance to ensure stable supply

Zhongshan Customs officers arrived at the flower and tree field to verify the declaration information, check the health status of the plants, inspect the soil and packaging materials. The process was rigorous and rapid. Yu Bowen, the head of the Inspection and Quarantine Department of the Zhongshan Customs Office in Shiqi, introduced, "For the annual flowers that meet the requirements for supply to Macau, we implement priority inspection and fast issuance of certificates, combined with convenient measures such as' early declaration 'and paperless inspection and quarantine certificates, to fully compress the customs clearance time, ensure that the annual flowers are exported' fresh 'and arrive in the Macau market in the best condition

In order to meet the demand of the Macau New Year flower market and ensure the safe and smooth customs clearance of the supply of Macau New Year flowers during the holiday period, Zhongshan Customs proactively contacted major flower export enterprises in its jurisdiction in advance, understood export plans and customs clearance needs, established a "green channel" for supplying Macau New Year flowers, and achieved "on-demand reporting and rapid inspection and release".

According to statistics, since January 2026, Gongbei Customs has inspected and released a total of 1.335 million plants of various types of Australian New Year flowers such as butterfly orchids and oranges. (Meng Juan, Yang Runzi/Text)
