Recently, Weihai Customs, a subsidiary of Qingdao Customs, seized 257644 undeclared weight loss pills through import freight channels.
During the inspection of two inbound containers, the on-site customs officer found a large amount of weight loss drugs packaged in transparent plastic bags hidden inside the containers. This batch of drugs has bright colors, varying sizes, no production date, no quality certificate, and no manufacturer. After counting, a total of 257644 pieces were found. After testing and identification, the above-mentioned drugs contain controlled psychotropic substances such as ephedrine, caffeine, and fentanyl. At present, the case has been transferred to the customs anti smuggling department for processing in accordance with the law.
Ephedrine is a raw material for methamphetamine and belongs to the first category of precursor chemicals. Caffeine and fentanyl are classified as the second category of psychotropic drugs under national control, and long-term use seriously endangers physical and mental health. According to the Drug Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, the import and export of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs within the scope of national regulations shall be carried out with an import and export permit issued by the drug regulatory department of the State Council.
