The first cross-border ambulance from Zhuhai to Hong Kong has cleared customs via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

At around 9 a.m. on December 31st, the first cross-border ambulance from Zhuhai to Hong Kong set off from Zhuhai People's Hospital, carrying a patient, medical staff, and accompanying personnel. It smoothly entered the Zhuhai highway port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. With the full-process coordination, efficient supervision, and meticulous guidance of customs officers, it quickly completed customs clearance and inspection through the exclusive "green channel", and successfully headed to Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong.

Before the arrival of the ambulance, the customs special working group had completed preparations such as recording the patient's health information and the medical supplies on board in advance. After the vehicle arrived at the port, customs conducted seamless and efficient supervision in accordance with the principle of "zero waiting for inspection and no personnel getting off the vehicle", ensuring the rapid customs clearance of the ambulance.

As the integration and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area accelerates, personnel exchanges between Guangdong and Hong Kong have become more frequent, leading to a significant increase in demand for cross-border medical transfers. The newly launched "point-to-point" transfer mechanism for cross-border ambulances effectively avoids the risk of mid-journey transfers and secures valuable treatment time for patients. Furthermore, the unique advantage of 24-hour customs clearance on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge provides a stable and reliable passage guarantee for cross-border medical transfers.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the cross-border transfer mechanism for ambulances between Zhuhai and Hong Kong, the Customs at the bridge took the initiative to provide proactive services, closely monitoring key regulatory aspects such as ambulance registration, health quarantine, supervision of medical supplies, and patient health assessment, and established an efficient, coordinated, safe, and convenient customs clearance support system.

The successful customs clearance of this cross-border ambulance marks the successful implementation of the cross-border ambulance transfer mechanism between Zhuhai and Hong Kong, adding another key hub to the Guangdong-Hong Kong cross-border medical rescue network. (By Chen Qixi)
