Academic exchange event on border health and quarantine held in Shanghai
On December 23rd, an academic exchange event on border health and quarantine with the theme of "Inheriting, Refining, and Advancing: Border Health and Quarantine in the New Era" was held in Shanghai. Chen Yujian, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Ni Dahang, Chief Inspector of the General Administration of Customs, Chen Lei, Deputy Director of the Emergency Response Department of the National Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, and Zhao Guoping, Academician of the CAS Member attended and delivered speeches. Martin Taylor, the representative of the World Health Organization in China, delivered a speech via video. Shanghai Customs Director Wang Wei attended the event.
In his speech, Ni Dahang reviewed the achievements of customs in improving cross-border infectious disease monitoring and early warning systems during the 14th Five Year Plan period, and looked forward to the high-quality development path of border health and quarantine during the 15th Five Year Plan period from three dimensions: experience inheritance, technological empowerment, and international cooperation.
Zhu Zhaoyin, Director of the Health and Quarantine Department of the General Administration of Customs, and Wu Jinglei, President of the Shanghai Medical Association, as well as other relevant department heads and experts, shared on topics such as strengthening the defense line of border health and quarantine in the new era and controlling public health risks in mega port cities such as Shanghai. Delegates at the meeting focused on issues such as port prevention and control of major epidemics, innovative application of smart health quarantine, enforcement practice of the newly revised frontier health quarantine law and international health regulations, core capacity building of port public health, experience in creating international health ports, improvement of international travel health service capacity, and AIDS prevention and control. During the event, a donation ceremony for the painting "Biography of Wu Liande" was also held.
This event is guided by the Health and Quarantine Department of the General Administration of Customs, hosted by the China Customs Media Center, and co organized by Shanghai Customs and the China International Travel Healthcare Association. Representatives from customs, disease control, hospitals, universities, and research institutions jointly provide suggestions and recommendations for the development of border health and quarantine in the new era.
