On January 6th, the Guankou Customs under Gongbei Customs seized a case of smuggling old mobile phones into the country, with a total of 19 old phones hidden in wheelchair battery boxes.
At around 10:10 on the same day, a man entered the country through the customs' "green channel" at the Gongbei Port Inspection Hall in an electric wheelchair. When the customs officers inspected it, they found a thin layer of blue plastic on the outside of the wheelchair's battery box, with a warning message "Do not open it without permission" on top, suspected of covering up internal disassembly traces. After further inspection, the customs officers seized 19 old mobile phones in the battery box. After inquiry, the man admitted to carrying the above-mentioned items for others and charging a "labor fee".
Customs reminds that according to relevant regulations, those who evade customs supervision by hiding and bring goods that should be taxed according to law into the country are considered smuggling activities. If the circumstances are serious enough to constitute a crime, they will be held criminally responsible in accordance with the law. (Written by Guo Shanshan)
