Customs at Capital International Airport seized foreign passengers illegally carrying cannabis plants through the border

Recently, Beijing Customs officials at Capital International Airport discovered a large number of suspicious shadows in the images of two foreign transit passengers' luggage passing through the airport while monitoring the luggage of international transit passengers. After unpacking and inspection, the on-site customs officers found a large amount of cannabis plants with a net weight of 79.13 kilograms that were not declared in writing to the customs in the 4 checked baggage of the two passengers mentioned above. After being sent to a professional department for identification, tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiol, and cannabinol components were detected. At present, the case has been transferred to the customs anti smuggling department for handling.

Customs reminder: According to Article 347 and Article 357 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, drugs refer to opium, heroin, methamphetamine (ice), morphine, marijuana, cocaine, and other narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances controlled by the state that can cause addiction. Smuggling, trafficking, transporting, and manufacturing drugs, regardless of the quantity, should be held criminally responsible and punished.
