The international freight volume of Hangzhou Airport in November exceeded last year's total, and the "air to air transfer" business has become a new growth point
As the end of the year approaches, major e-commerce platforms continue to promote their products, and the stocking frenzy during the Christmas holiday abroad follows one after another. In recent days, the cargo terminal at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport has been busy. According to the statistics of Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport Customs, which is under the jurisdiction of Hangzhou Customs, the import and export cargo volume of Hangzhou Airport Port was 230400 tons in the first 11 months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 10.41%, exceeding the import and export cargo volume of 229200 tons for the whole year of 2024.
Cross border e-commerce continues to be the main driving force for export growth. In the first 11 months, Hangzhou Airport exported 140700 tons of cross-border e-commerce cargo, a year-on-year increase of 23.66%, accounting for 70% of the total export volume of the airport during the same period. The relevant person in charge of the customs at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport introduced that in order to ensure peak season clearance, the customs has implemented 7 × 24 hour clearance, embedded in the enterprise logistics chain through smart means such as "intelligent map review", and improved clearance efficiency by 20%, achieving "instant inspection and release".
The increasingly dense international airline network provides strong support. Since the beginning of this year, Hangzhou has added all cargo air routes to and from Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Ostrava, Czech Republic, and has strengthened the "Hangzhou Mexico City" route, increasing its cargo capacity to over 400 tons per week to and from Latin America. As of now, Hangzhou Airport Port has opened a total of 28 international freight routes, with approximately 120 inbound and outbound cargo flights per week.
The performance in terms of imports is equally impressive. The growth of agricultural and food products from ASEAN is significant. Data shows that in the first 11 months, Hangzhou Airport has supervised a total of 177.91 tons of imported edible aquatic animals from ASEAN countries, an increase of 134.49% compared to the same period last year. The import volume of Chilean cherries, Norwegian salmon, and other seafood products has also increased significantly, with imports of frozen seafood reaching 4884.51 tons, a year-on-year increase of about 70 times.
At the same time, the "air to air transit" business has become a new growth point for international freight. For example, recently a batch of about 500 kilograms of cross-border e-commerce goods flew from Hangzhou to Taiyuan and then transferred to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, achieving "one order to the end". Chen Caibo, the person in charge of Hangzhou Lihang International Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd., said, "In the past, these types of goods needed to be transferred after customs clearance in Hangzhou. Now, the goods do not need to be unpacked or re declared throughout the entire process, and logistics costs have been reduced by about 35%. The overall transportation time has been compressed to less than one day
