Yantai Customs provides dual line escort to ensure secure supply of resources and energy

Recently, 200000 tons of imported bauxite were unloaded at Yantai Port in Shandong Province. Yantai Customs officers under Qingdao Customs completed on-site inspection and quickly released the goods, achieving close connection between various links of bauxite supervision and ensuring efficient operation of the supply chain.

According to statistics, in the first 11 months of this year, Yantai Customs supervised a total of 65 million tons of imported bauxite, a year-on-year increase of 33.8%.

Bauxite is an important raw material for industrial production, mainly used for extracting metallic aluminum, manufacturing refractory materials, and grinding materials. China has a high demand for bauxite but insufficient reserves. In order to mitigate supply risks, China has built a diversified import pattern, and in addition to Guinea, Australia and other major sources, it has simultaneously expanded import channels such as Türkiye and Ghana. With its advantageous port location and efficient customs clearance capabilities, Yantai Port has become an important port for importing bauxite nationwide.

After the arrival of imported bauxite ships at the port, the supervision links such as ship quarantine and cargo inspection are seamlessly connected, effectively reducing the time for goods to be in port and improving customs clearance efficiency. Zheng Haitao, General Manager of Yantai Port International Ship Agency Co., Ltd., introduced that the throughput of bauxite in Yantai Port has exceeded last year's total by two months ahead of schedule this year.

While the cargo ships carrying imported bauxite continue to throughput at Yantai Port, another energy layout related to "urban fireworks" has quietly begun. At the construction site of the LNG receiving station in Xigang District, the imported equipment of Zhongcheng Township (Yantai) Liquefied Natural Gas Company is being quickly cleared through the customs' "green channel".

The customs fully followed up on the difficult issues of importing bulk equipment for the LNG project in the West Port Area of Yantai Port, and formulated a 'one enterprise, one policy' solution for us. ”Jiang Weishen, Manager of the Market and Commerce Department of Zhongcheng Township (Yantai) Liquefied Natural Gas Co., Ltd., introduced that the project is expected to be completed and put into operation in July 2026. At that time, it will be interconnected with other LNG projects in Shandong Province through LNG tank trucks and pipelines, forming a multi gas source complementarity, which is conducive to improving the LNG supply layout in the province, effectively playing an emergency supply role, and solving energy supply security problems.

We will upgrade the regulatory service model through digital and intelligent means, further optimize the customs clearance process, and strengthen the collaborative linkage with multiple departments and entities to build a smart regulatory ecosystem for commodities such as bauxite and LNG. ”Zhang Chunbo, the head of the Inspection Department of the Port Office of Yantai Customs, said. Next, the customs will continue to deepen the construction of smart customs and smart ports, ensuring stable and smooth supply and industrial chains, and injecting stronger customs momentum into the high-quality development of foreign trade.
