Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Daily (front page): Shenzhen Airport Port has entered the ranks of "annual million ton" cargo ports for the first time

Shenzhen Special Economic Zone News (Reporter Fang Mubing, Correspondent Ye Junchao) On December 11th, a batch of electronic products with a total weight of about 2.3 tons arrived at the Shenzhen Airport International Cargo Terminal and immediately took an international flight out of the sea. With the departure of this batch of goods, the cumulative import and export cargo volume of Shenzhen Airport Port has officially exceeded 1 million tons since 2025, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%. This is also the first time since the opening of the port that it has entered the ranks of "annual million ton" freight ports, setting a new historical high.
Ouyang, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Meibang Liantong International Aviation Logistics Co., Ltd., said, "Now, goods that meet regulatory requirements for export can be arranged to board the plane immediately upon arrival at the port, doubling the efficiency compared to the past." This change stems from the "Airport Smart Logistics Reform" deeply promoted by Shenzhen Customs, which integrates cutting-edge technologies such as digital twin technology, AGV intelligent robots, and intelligent checkpoints into the entire regulatory process, builds a "visual, intelligent, and all-weather" regulatory system, realizes the integration of "data flow, trajectory flow, and video flow" of goods, and makes "immediate release and pickup" for imports and "direct loading upon arrival" for exports the norm.
With the support of Shenzhen Customs, we have introduced multiple intelligent devices, which have increased the station's support capacity by 63% and significantly improved the efficiency of cargo turnover, "said Pan Mingqiang, General Manager of Shenzhen International Cargo Terminal at Shenzhen Airport
In response to the industry's pain points such as low efficiency in air cargo transfer and insufficient utilization of cabin resources, Shenzhen Customs has innovatively applied a series of logistics facilitation measures such as airside direct access, international transfer "order exchange", and apron direct pickup. Airside gates have been set up in the supervision area to create a "logistics expressway" for cargo transfer, truly achieving "one loading and unloading, one warehousing, and one handover". This mode not only reduces the cargo damage rate by more than 20%, but also helps enterprises save about 30% of logistics costs and reduce time costs by more than 50%.
Ying Xuemin, Chairman of Shenzhen Airport Logistics Development Co., Ltd., introduced that with the continuous improvement of customs clearance efficiency and service quality, major airlines have increased their capacity investment. Since the beginning of this year, three new international cargo routes have been opened in Miami, Delhi, and Jakarta, with 16 additional destinations added. The route network covers 43 cities in 27 countries, achieving efficient connectivity with global hub airports of millions of tons.
