The US trade deficit decreased month on month in September
New York, December 11 (Xinhua) -- Data released by the US Department of Commerce on the 11th showed that the US trade deficit in goods and services in September was 52.8 billion US dollars, lower than the revised 59.3 billion US dollars in August, a decrease of 10.96% compared to the previous month.
Among them, the export amount in September was 289.3 billion US dollars, an increase of 3% compared to the previous month, while the import amount for the month was 342.1 billion US dollars, an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous month.
Data shows that in September, the export value of goods increased by 8.8 billion US dollars, and the export of consumer goods increased by 4.1 billion US dollars. During the same period, the import value of goods increased by 1.7 billion US dollars, and the import of consumer goods increased by 10.2 billion US dollars. However, the import of capital goods significantly decreased by 5.6 billion US dollars, and the import of industrial raw materials slightly increased.
Data shows that due to the import growth rate exceeding the export growth rate, the US goods and services trade deficit in the first three quarters of this year was 112.6 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 17.2%.
