Beijing, November 27th (Xinhua) -- A spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said on November 27th that China has serious concerns about some of the contents of the "Malaysia US reciprocal trade agreement".
A reporter asked: We have noticed that the relevant person in charge of the Malaysian Ministry of Trade and Industry recently came to Beijing to have bilateral communication with the Ministry of Commerce on issues related to the "Malaysia US reciprocal trade agreement". Can you introduce the relevant situation?
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce said that on November 25th, relevant departments of the Ministry of Commerce and officials from the Malaysian Ministry of Trade and Industry held bilateral communication in Beijing on issues related to the "Malaysia US reciprocal trade agreement".
The spokesperson stated that China is pleased to see Malaysia and other countries resolve their differences through the signing of economic and trade agreements. But any agreement should not affect global trade development and regional cooperation, and should not harm China's interests. The Chinese side has serious concerns about some of the contents of the "Malaysia US reciprocal trade agreement". I hope that the Malaysian side will consider and handle it properly from the perspective of their own long-term interests.
The spokesperson stated that the Malaysian side has provided explanations and clarifications on each issue of concern to the Chinese side, and expressed that the Malaysian side values the long-term partnership between China and Malaysia and is willing to continue deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
