Xinhua News Agency The total value of over 4100 batches of imported exhibits at the 8th CIIE exceeded 8 billion yuan
According to Shanghai Customs statistics, in the eight years since its establishment, the China International Import Expo has attracted more than 4100 batches of exhibits, with a total value of over 8 billion yuan.
From 2018 to 2024, Shanghai Customs has supervised a total of 3890 batches of imported exhibits at the CIIE, with a value of approximately 7.97 billion yuan. The 8th CIIE is about to open, and as of October 31st, Shanghai Customs has provided services to ensure the clearance of 289 batches of CIIE exhibits, with a total value of about 176 million yuan. Most of the exhibits have already entered the venue for exhibition.
It is reported that according to the innovative measures recently introduced by the General Administration of Customs, Shanghai Customs has opened the "Import Expo Express" mode for bonded exhibition and trading for the first time, breaking the objective limitation of no comprehensive bonded zone in the central urban area of Shanghai. High value exhibition products represented by jewelry can be directly transported to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) where the Import Expo is held with only one customs declaration and one box opening, greatly reducing the transit distance and minimizing the risk of damage caused by transportation and loading and unloading of exhibits. Recently, a batch of 444 bonded jewelry items worth approximately 8.68 million yuan became the first batch of "passengers" on the "Import Expo Express".
Since 2018, Shanghai Customs has kept complete records and archives of the key imported exhibits and their supervision work for each CIIE. So far, a total of 97 document archives, 462 photo archives, 113 audio-visual archives, and 37 physical archives have been archived, becoming a witness to the continuous improvement of the "convenience, intelligence, and greening" level of customs supervision services at the China International Import Expo.
According to archival data, since the first CIIE was held, customs has supported 74 batches of animal and plant products and food from 12 countries, including Maltese tuna, Afghan pomegranate, Australian avocado, and Benin pineapple, to achieve the "China debut". The CIIE has become the "golden gateway" for the world to the Chinese market.
