Minister Wang Wentao held a video conference with European Commission Trade and Economic Security Commissioner Shevchovich
On November 26th, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a video conference with European Commission's Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Shevchovich, to exchange in-depth views on economic and trade issues such as Anshi Semiconductor.
Wang Wentao stated that regarding the issue of Anshi Semiconductor, the source and responsibility for the current global semiconductor supply chain chaos lies with the Netherlands. The Chinese government has always taken a responsible attitude and timely practical measures to maintain and restore stability in the global semiconductor supply chain. Recently, the Dutch side announced the suspension of administrative orders, taking a small step towards resolving the issue properly. However, the improper administrative and judicial intervention by the Dutch side in enterprises has not been cancelled, and the global semiconductor supply chain has not yet returned to normal, still facing significant uncertainty. We hope that the European side can play an active role and urge the Dutch government to propose constructive solutions as soon as possible, creating favorable conditions for internal negotiations among enterprises.
Shevchovich expressed gratitude to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for its tremendous efforts in promoting the resolution of the Anshi semiconductor issue, which has avoided a crisis in the global semiconductor supply chain. At present, the Anshi semiconductor issue has not been completely resolved, and the European side is willing to work with the Chinese side to further cool down the situation.
Both parties unanimously agree that enterprises are the main body in solving the problems of Anshi Semiconductor, and will jointly urge Anshi Netherlands and Anshi China to engage in constructive communication as soon as possible, find long-term solutions, and restore the smoothness and stability of the global semiconductor supply chain as soon as possible.
Both sides also exchanged views on issues such as export controls between China and Europe.
