China and Tonga sign the Framework Agreement for Enhancing Economic Partnership

According to the Framework Agreement, both parties agree to engage in flexible and pragmatic negotiations around specific issues, negotiate and sign institutional arrangements, further expand bilateral trade, and support Tonga in attracting investment, accelerating industrialization and agricultural modernization, and deeply participating in global industrial and supply chain cooperation.

The signing of the Framework Agreement is an important measure to deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and its various plenary sessions, expand high-level opening-up to the outside world, and is the latest progress in expanding the network of high standard free trade zones facing the world. The signing of the Framework Agreement fully demonstrates the firm determination of both parties to promote free trade and open cooperation through equal consultation. The Framework Agreement and subsequent negotiation results will provide long-term, stable, and predictable institutional guarantees for cooperation between the two sides, effectively enriching the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Tonga that respects each other and develops together, further consolidating political mutual trust, deepening pragmatic cooperation, and promoting China Tonga economic and trade relations to a new level.
