The China Cambodia Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee held its second meeting
On November 18th, the second meeting of the China Cambodia Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee was held in Beijing. Li Chenggang, international trade negotiator and deputy minister, met with the Cambodian delegation.
Li Chenggang stated that the China Cambodia Free Trade Agreement is an important witness to the long-standing traditional friendship between the two sides. Since the implementation of the agreement, it has effectively promoted the development of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides, and played an important role in helping Cambodia accelerate its industrialization process and upgrade its supply chain. Both sides should cherish this important achievement, fully implement the relevant commitments of the agreement, further explore and deepen free trade cooperation, and make the agreement better benefit the enterprises and people of both sides.
Li Chenggang stated that China is pleased to see Cambodia negotiate economic and trade agreements with other countries, including the United States, but any agreement should not affect global trade development and regional cooperation, and should not harm China's interests. We hope that the Cambodian side will fully consider and properly handle all concerns from the perspective of its own long-term interests.
The meeting summarized and evaluated the implementation of the China Cambodia Free Trade Agreement, exchanged in-depth views on issues of common concern, and made arrangements for future work. In addition, both sides also exchanged information on the recent signing of economic and trade agreements with their trading partners, and Cambodia provided explanations and clarifications on issues of concern to China.
