December 1, 2025 is the 38th "World AIDS Day". This year, the theme of China's promotional activities is "social governance, integrity and innovation, ending AIDS". Closely centering on the port health quarantine responsibilities, Lanzhou Customs has taken AIDS prevention and control as an important measure to practice the overall national security concept and safeguard the security of the country. Through systematic deployment, three-dimensional publicity, precise service and joint prevention and control, Lanzhou Customs has built a health barrier integrating "prevention and control, service and co governance" at all ports in Gansu.
AIDS, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, is caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and transmitted mainly through sexual contact, blood and mother to child. At present, the disease cannot be cured, but through standardized antiviral treatment, the progression of the condition can be effectively controlled and the quality of life of patients can be improved.
"It needs to be emphasized that general contacts in daily work and study, such as shaking hands, hugging, sharing office supplies, eating together, etc., will not lead to the spread of AIDS." At the departure hall of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, customs officers patiently explained AIDS prevention and treatment knowledge to waiting passengers. More than 400 promotional materials were distributed, and more than 150 on-site consultations were received, creating a good atmosphere for the whole society to participate in prevention and control.
In order to pool the joint efforts of AIDS prevention and control at the port, Lanzhou Customs has actively built a comprehensive governance mechanism of "customs led, multi-party cooperation, and public participation", established regular communication channels with the Provincial Health Commission, Lanzhou University, etc., and promoted the sharing of epidemic information, mutual recognition of detection results, and collaborative treatment of cases. At the same time, we will deepen cooperation with port operating units and airlines, integrate venues and promotional resources, jointly create port health service stations, extend prevention and control measures, and improve response efficiency.
