The Ministry of Commerce held a roundtable meeting for foreign-funded enterprises in Shanghai
On November 5th, during the 8th China International Import Expo, Ling Ji, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, presided over a roundtable meeting for foreign-funded enterprises in Shanghai. More than 30 foreign-funded enterprises including Alfa Laval, ArcelorMittal, Merck, Intel, Air Chemicals, Nissan, Lego, and the UK China Business Association, as well as representatives from foreign business associations in China, attended the meeting. The heads of relevant departments and bureaus of the State Council Research Office, the State Administration of Taxation, and the National Immigration Administration will interpret policies and respond to the issues and demands raised by foreign-funded enterprises.
The meeting introduced China's proposal to expand high-level opening-up in the 15th Five Year Plan, interpreted a series of policies recently introduced to stabilize foreign investment, and conducted in-depth discussions on China's economy, business environment, global economic issues, etc.
Ling Ji stated that the "15th Five Year Plan" proposal approved at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has injected more certainty into China's economic and social development in the coming period; The important proposition in the planning proposal that China will continue to promote high-quality development and expand high-level opening-up to the outside world will enhance certainty for foreign-funded enterprises to deeply cultivate the Chinese market and bring good expectations.
Ling Ji pointed out that unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, and a fair, just, and rule of law market is a scarce resource globally. China will unwaveringly promote high-level opening up to the outside world, actively connect with international high standard economic and trade rules, continue to expand market access in the service industry, promote the construction of key foreign-funded projects, ensure equal participation of foreign-funded enterprises in government procurement, implement the policy of reinvestment tax credit, strengthen intellectual property protection, and continue to create a market-oriented, rule of law, and international first-class business environment. It is hoped that foreign-funded enterprises will share new opportunities for China's development during the "15th Five Year Plan" period and work hand in hand with Chinese path to modernization.
The attending foreign-funded enterprises expressed that they see bright prospects and broad investment opportunities for China's future development through the "15th Five Year Plan", and are willing to expand long-term investment and carry out research and development innovation in China, improve localization level, actively participate in China's high-quality development with advanced technology and high-quality product services.
