Hungary extends visa facilitation arrangements for Chinese business people

Budapest, November 16 (Xinhua) - Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs, Szijjardo Peter, announced on the 16th that visa facilitation arrangements for Chinese business people will be extended for one year.

On the same day, Szijjardo posted a video on social media saying that Hungary will extend the visa facilitation arrangements for Chinese corporate executives and business people who come to Hungary for economic and trade cooperation, and complete visa processing within 48 hours. He said that this move is a response to China's recent announcement of extending the visa free policy for Hungarian citizens, aimed at supporting bilateral economic, educational, and tourism exchanges.

In order to further promote personnel exchanges between China and foreign countries, China decided in March 2024 to expand the scope of visa free countries and implement a visa free policy for holders of ordinary passports from six countries, including Hungary. The Hungarian side subsequently announced that it would implement a facilitation arrangement for issuing 5-year multiple entry visas to Chinese business personnel. At the beginning of this month, China decided to extend its visa free policy for Hungary and other countries until December 31, 2026.
