Statement by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on the Consensus of China Europe Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Negotiations
Recently, China and Europe have held intensive consultations on the trade of hybrid and electric vehicles under the trade and investment consultation mechanism, adhering to the principles of mutual respect and equal consultation, and have reached consensus. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers attaches great importance to this and welcomes and supports the positive results achieved in the negotiations.
The current global trade protectionism is on the rise, and the uncertainty of the international economic and trade environment is significantly increasing. The automotive industry has a high degree of globalization, a long supply chain, and close cross-border cooperation, facing multiple challenges such as policy barriers and supply chain restructuring. If trade frictions are allowed to escalate, it will not only increase enterprise costs and disrupt normal market order, but also harm consumer interests and affect the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry. As an important global economy and automotive market, China and Europe have strong industrial complementarity and broad cooperation space. Both sides insist on managing differences and resolving frictions through institutionalized consultations, replacing confrontation with dialogue, and resolving disputes through cooperation, which is a rational choice that is in line with the fundamental interests of both sides.
Under the multilateral rules framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO), China and Europe have reached a consensus on the trade of hybrid and electric vehicles based on the principles of factual basis, non discrimination, and compliance. This consensus will help stabilize the industry expectations of both sides, maintain the stability and smoothness of the automotive industry chain and supply chain, and create a more predictable environment for automotive companies to carry out trade and investment cooperation; It also helps to safeguard the common interests of both industries and consumers, and avoid the escalation of trade frictions. China and Europe rely on the WTO platform and adhere to the approach of dialogue and consultation to handle trade frictions, setting an example for the international community to properly handle differences.
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers is willing to continue to play a bridging role, promote communication and coordination in the industry, support China and Europe to move towards each other under the trade and investment consultation mechanism, implement consensus, properly handle differences, jointly maintain a fair, open, and non discriminatory international trade environment, and inject positive energy into the global automotive industry's green and low-carbon transformation and sustainable development.
