According to statistics from Fuzhou Customs, in the first eight months of this year, Fujian Province's foreign trade imports and exports amounted to 134 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%. Among them, exports amounted to 780.89 billion yuan, an increase of 1%, and imports amounted to 560.4 billion yuan, an increase of 17%. Fujian Province's import and export, as well as import scale, continue to reach a new historical high, maintaining a stable and positive trend with improved quality and efficiency. The main characteristics are as follows:

One is the diversified development of trade structure, with a stable dominant position in general trade. In the first 8 months, the import and export of general trade in Fujian Province reached 1.03 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.9%, accounting for 77% of the total import and export value of Fujian Province's foreign trade during the same period, driving the import and export growth of Fujian Province by 6.8 percentage points. Among them, exports amounted to 604.94 billion yuan, an increase of 5%; Imports amounted to 428.16 billion yuan, an increase of 14.9%. During the same period, the import and export of processing trade amounted to 179.25 billion yuan, an increase of 15.1%, accounting for 13.4%.

Secondly, the vitality of the operating entities has burst forth, and the role of private enterprises as the main engine has been enhanced. In the first 8 months, the import and export of private enterprises in Fujian Province reached 840.97 billion yuan, an increase of 10.4%, accounting for 62.7% of the total import and export value of Fujian Province's foreign trade during the same period, driving the import and export growth of Fujian Province by 6.3 percentage points. The import and export of foreign-invested enterprises reached 290.92 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%, accounting for 21.7%.

Third, the market layout has been expanded in depth, and the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" has played a prominent leading role. In the first 8 months, Fujian Province's imports and exports to ASEAN reached 261.33 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%; Imports and exports to the European Union amounted to 183.55 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1%. Imports and exports to ASEAN and the European Union accounted for 33.2% of Fujian Province's total foreign trade imports and exports during the same period. It is worth noting that imports and exports to emerging economies such as Latin America and Africa amounted to 147.86 billion yuan and 83.52 billion yuan, respectively, with an increase of 8.2% and 20.9%. Over the same period, the import and export to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" was 719.03 billion yuan, up 9.3%, driving the import and export growth of Fujian Province by 4.9 percentage points over the same period; Imports and exports to other RCEP member countries amounted to 428.98 billion yuan, an increase of 6.2%.

In the first 8 months, the export of mechanical and electrical products in Fujian Province reached 377.32 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1%, accounting for 48.3% of the total foreign trade export value of Fujian Province during the same period, driving the overall export growth of Fujian Province by 2.4 percentage points and continuously promoting the optimization and upgrading of the export commodity structure of Fujian Province. Among them, the export of computers and their components, LCD panel display modules, electrical control devices, wires and cables performed well, with exports of 24.42 billion yuan, 13.35 billion yuan, 12.49 billion yuan, and 11.04 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 7.6%, 3.9%, 40.1%, and 16.5%. Plastic products, furniture, and their parts in labor-intensive products were exported for 26.31 billion yuan and 21.66 billion yuan, respectively, with an increase of 10.3% and 6.6%. In addition, the export of dried and fresh fruits and nuts reached 1.67 billion yuan, an increase of 33.8%; Steel exports amounted to 14.21 billion yuan, an increase of 55.9%; The export of pulp, paper and its products reached 8.69 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3%.

Sixth, the import and export growth of cities such as Fuzhou and Xiamen has accelerated the formation of a dual core driving pattern. The import and export of Fuzhou City reached 198.72 billion yuan, an increase of 13.6%; Xiamen's import and export reached 700.07 billion yuan, an increase of 11.6%. The total import and export of the two cities accounts for nearly 70% of Fujian Province's total foreign trade value, fully demonstrating the leading role.
