The trade volume between China and other members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization accounts for 8% of our total foreign trade
Beijing, August 27th (Xinhua) -- This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. At the regular press conference held on the 27th, Huang Ling, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, introduced that the trade volume between China and other members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has increased from 12.1 billion US dollars in 2001 to 523.5 billion US dollars in 2025, accounting for 8% of China's total foreign trade. The export of "new three types" products and cross-border e-commerce to other member countries has grown rapidly.
For the past 25 years, China has always adhered to the 'Shanghai Spirit', worked hand in hand with other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to develop and share dividends, and achieved fruitful results in promoting regional economic cooperation. Huang Ling said that China's investment scale in other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization continues to expand, with a direct investment of 3.3 billion US dollars in the entire industry by 2025, covering investment areas such as oil and gas, minerals, infrastructure, new energy, automobiles, chemical industry, etc., and investing in the construction of more than 30 economic and trade cooperation zones to help countries enhance their industrial development capabilities.
Huang Ling stated that China will continue to implement the high-quality development action plan for economic and trade cooperation aimed at SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partners, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, develop service trade and digital trade, deepen cooperation in the production and supply chain, and push regional economic cooperation to a new level.
