State Administration for Market Regulation: The consumer market has become a new direction for attracting foreign investment

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation released data showing that there were 35000 newly established foreign-invested enterprises nationwide in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 7.0%. From the perspective of investment regions, the growth of foreign-invested enterprises in export-oriented provinces and border provinces is driven by a "dual wheel drive".

From the perspective of source countries, the newly established enterprises in China of countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" have grown in an all-round way. From the perspective of investment, the consumer market has become a new direction for attracting foreign investment, and China's huge market continues to increase its attractiveness to foreign investment. In the first half of the year, the growth rates of newly established foreign-invested enterprises in the health and social work, wholesale and retail, and accommodation and catering industries were 27.1%, 11.9%, and 11.7%, respectively. The attractiveness of China's huge market to foreign investment continued to increase.

Next, the State Administration for Market Regulation will continue to deepen market supervision reforms in the field of foreign investment, optimize market access services, improve registration facilitation, protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign-invested enterprises on an equal footing in accordance with the law, continuously create a market-oriented, rule of law, and international first-class business environment, help more foreign-invested enterprises take root and develop in China, better play the positive role of foreign investment in promoting technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and international trade cooperation, and serve the construction of a new development pattern.
