Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone launches GMS international transportation route to Thailand (pictured)

On July 31st, under the on-site supervision of Jiaozhou Customs under Qingdao Customs, a GMS (Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation) international road transport vehicle loaded with steamed and frozen vegetable products departed from the Silk Road E-commerce Comprehensive Service Base in the SCO Demonstration Zone and headed towards Bangkok, Thailand. This marks the official opening of the GMS international transportation route from the SCO demonstration zone to Thailand.

The Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Mechanism is an economic cooperation mechanism jointly participated by China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. Vehicles holding GMS certificates can achieve "one certificate for multiple countries" and enjoy "one declaration, one vehicle direct access" when passing through customs between member countries along designated routes within one year of validity.

On the same day, the exported goods came from Qingdao Yingjia Food Co., Ltd. According to the person in charge of the enterprise, the goods are now transported through GMS international transportation routes, sealed in boxes and containers at once, and can arrive in Southeast Asia in only about 7 days, greatly reducing transportation costs, improving logistics turnover efficiency, and providing strong support for the enterprise to expand into the Southeast Asian market.

To ensure the smooth launch of the GMS international transportation route from the SCO Demonstration Zone to Thailand, we have proactively coordinated with enterprises' transportation needs, assisted them in streamlining the application process, and determined regulatory plans. ”Song Tao, Deputy Director of Jiaozhou Customs, introduced that the customs has also set up a dedicated window for fast clearance, providing enterprises with appointment clearance and dynamically tracking vehicle travel to ensure smooth export of goods.

As of now, the SCO Demonstration Zone has opened 8 GMS and TIR international road transportation routes, connecting 8 countries including Laos, Thailand, Russia, Azerbaijan, etc. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 231 trains have been shipped with a total value of 210 million yuan.
