This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Lancang Mekong Cooperation (LMC), and Fujian actively integrates into the overall situation of LMC, relying on its industrial advantages to continuously deepen economic and trade exchanges with the five Mekong countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam). According to Xiamen Customs statistics, in the first half of the year, Fujian's imports and exports to the five Mekong countries amounted to 71.93 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%, accounting for 36.9% of Fujian's total imports and exports to ASEAN during the same period, driving the province's imports and exports to ASEAN to increase by 2.6 percentage points; Among them, exports exceeded 50 billion yuan, reaching 51.49 billion yuan, which remained basically unchanged year-on-year; Imports amounted to 20.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%, with import and export, export, and import all reaching new historical highs for the same period.
Data shows that the position of private enterprises as the backbone of foreign trade continues to consolidate. In the first half of the year, private enterprises in Fujian Province imported and exported 50.7 billion yuan to the five countries along the Mekong River, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%, accounting for over 70% of the province's total import and export value to the five countries along the Mekong River during the same period. During the same period, foreign-invested enterprises in Fujian Province imported and exported 17.01 billion yuan to the five countries along the Mekong River, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%, accounting for 23.6%. Vietnam is the largest trading partner in the economic and trade exchanges between Fujian and the five Mekong countries. According to statistics, in the first half of the year, Fujian's imports and exports to Vietnam amounted to 39.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10%, accounting for 54.6% of the province's total imports and exports to the five Mekong countries during the same period. During the same period, Fujian's trade growth with Myanmar and Laos was particularly prominent, with imports and exports of 2.2 billion yuan and 1.35 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 44.8% and 83.5% year-on-year, accounting for a total of 4.9%.
In terms of export commodities, electromechanical products and labor-intensive products are the main products exported by Fujian to the five countries along the Mekong River. Data shows that in the first half of the year, Fujian exported 19.62 billion yuan of electromechanical products to the five Mekong countries, accounting for 38.1% of the province's total export value to the five Mekong countries during the same period. During the same period, Fujian exported labor-intensive products worth 10.39 billion yuan to the five countries along the Mekong River, accounting for 20.2%; Among them, the export of plastic products was 2.29 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.1%.
The structure of imported products is distinctive, with mechanical and electrical products and agricultural products being the top two commodities imported by Fujian from the five Mekong countries. According to officials from Xiamen Customs, in the first half of the year, Fujian imported 5.65 billion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products from the five Mekong countries, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times, accounting for 27.6% of the province's total import value from the five Mekong countries during the same period; Among them, the main imported automatic data processing equipment and its components amounted to 2.86 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.9 times. During the same period, Fujian imported agricultural products worth 5.64 billion yuan from the five countries along the Mekong River, accounting for 27.6%; Among them, imported aquatic products amounted to 990 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times.
