In the first half of the year, Fujian Province's imports and exports to other BRICS member countries exceeded 200 billion yuan

With the continuous deepening and expansion of the cooperation mechanism among BRICS countries, the economic and trade cooperation between Fujian Province and other BRICS member countries continues to deepen and solidify, and the trade scale has reached a new level. According to Xiamen Customs statistics, in the first half of this year, the total import and export value of Fujian Province to other BRICS member countries exceeded 200 billion yuan, reaching 204.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.1%. Among them, imports amounted to 133.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%; Exports amounted to 71.27 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%.
According to officials from Xiamen Customs, private enterprises continue to play a leading role in foreign trade. In the first half of the year, private enterprises in Fujian Province imported and exported 126.08 billion yuan to other BRICS member countries, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%, accounting for 61.7% of the province's total import and export value to other BRICS member countries during the same period. From the perspective of trade methods, the import and export of general trade reached 179.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.9%, accounting for nearly 90%.
Among the major trading partners, Indonesia, Russia, and Brazil remain in the top three. In the first half of the year, Fujian Province's imports and exports to Indonesia amounted to 63.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.6%. Indonesia continues to maintain Fujian Province's position as the largest trading partner of other BRICS member countries. During the same period, Fujian Province's imports and exports to Russia and Brazil amounted to 38.83 billion yuan and 36.37 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 78.8% and 37.5% year-on-year.
Data shows that electromechanical products have become an important engine driving export growth, with green and low-carbon products performing outstandingly. In the first half of the year, Fujian Province exported 32.61 billion yuan of electromechanical products to other BRICS member countries, a year-on-year increase of 17.6%, accounting for 45.8%. Among them, the export momentum of lithium-ion batteries is particularly strong, with a total export of 3.22 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.8 times. During the same period, the export of textile yarns, fabrics, and their products reached 3.39 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%; The export of agricultural products reached 2.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%.
The import demand for bulk commodities and agricultural products continues to be strong. In the first half of the year, Fujian Province imported energy products worth 50.42 billion yuan from other BRICS member countries, a year-on-year increase of 19.9%; Imported metal ore and mineral sand amounted to 19.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 24%. In addition, the import of agricultural products reached 16.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 56.4%.
