The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce answered questions from reporters regarding the preliminary anti-dumping investigation on imported bergamot fruits originating from Mexico and the United States

Q: We have noticed that the website of the Ministry of Commerce has released a preliminary ruling announcement on the anti-dumping investigation of imported bergamot fruits originating from Mexico and the United States. Can you introduce the relevant information?

Answer: On September 25, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce launched an anti-dumping investigation on imported bergamot fruits originating from Mexico and the United States.

After filing the case, the Ministry of Commerce strictly followed the principles of fairness, impartiality, openness, and transparency, and conducted investigations in accordance with relevant Chinese laws and regulations and WTO rules. Multiple Mexican companies responded to the lawsuit, but no American company responded. After investigation, preliminary evidence indicates that there is dumping of the investigated products imported, causing substantial damage to the relevant domestic industries, and there is a causal relationship between dumping and substantial damage. According to the relevant provisions of the Anti Dumping Regulations of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce issued a preliminary ruling announcement on August 10, 2026, and decided to implement temporary anti-dumping measures, ruling that the dumping margin of the Mexican company was 17.8% -51.6%; Due to the absence of any US companies participating in the investigation, according to relevant Chinese laws and WTO rules, the dumping margin for all US companies is determined to be 54.3% based on available facts.

China has always been cautious and restrained in using trade remedy measures, firmly upholding fairness and free trade. Next, we will continue to conduct investigations in accordance with the law, fully safeguard the rights of all stakeholders, and make a final decision objectively and fairly based on the investigation results.
