Yao Xinmin, Vice President of the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated at the meeting that Guangdong continues to deepen its cooperation with ASEAN in economic and trade exchanges, as well as industrial and supply chains, gradually achieving more sound mechanisms, more precise connections, and more practical results.

The 2026 China (Guangdong) - ASEAN Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Matchmaking and Exchange Conference will be held in Guangzhou from July 15th to 16th, focusing on special dialogues on artificial intelligence empowering industrial upgrading, new energy industry cooperation, and industrial chain supply chain coordination.

During the conference, a special China (Guangdong) - Thailand Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference will be held. Cai Yile, Minister of the Overseas Economic and Trade Representative Office of the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that Guangdong's investment layout in Thailand continues to deepen, and the Guangzhou Automobile Aion Thailand vehicle factory has been successfully put into operation, driving a large number of upstream and downstream supporting enterprises to join forces and go global; The continuous expansion of cooperation in emerging fields such as traditional medicine and health technology has become a new growth point for Guangdong Thailand cooperation.

During the conference, a China (Guangdong) - ASEAN New Energy Industry Cooperation and Exchange Conference will also be held. Ou Shaobin, Deputy Minister of the Trade Investment Promotion and Development Research Department of the Guangdong Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that Guangdong is an important gathering place for China's new energy industry. ASEAN countries have natural advantages in upstream resources such as nickel ore and bauxite for new energy. At the same time, there is a large demand in the construction of photovoltaic power stations, the replacement of electric two wheelers, and the application of energy storage systems. The two sides have different resource endowments and development stages, forming a good complementary pattern of "Guangdong manufacturing+ASEAN resources" and "Guangdong technology+ASEAN market".

Ou Shaobin stated that the supply chain cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN has entered a new stage of quality improvement and upgrading, gradually forming a regional collaborative division of labor pattern. At the same time, supporting services such as logistics warehousing and digital payments in ASEAN continue to improve, promoting the transformation of Guangdong's cross-border e-commerce from single commodity exports to localized comprehensive operations.

At present, the Guangdong Provincial Economic and Trade Representative Office and Overseas Guangdong Chamber of Commerce have achieved full coverage in ASEAN countries, and will continue to establish the first batch of Guangdong Chamber of Commerce Trade and Investment Service Centers in five countries including Cambodia, and continue to set up such centers in countries such as Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines.
