World Trade Organization: Global goods trade remains resilient in 2026

The World Trade Organization recently released a report stating that despite the ongoing negative impact of the Middle East conflict, global trade in goods will remain resilient in 2026, with the rising demand for electronic components related to artificial intelligence being one of the main positive factors.

The latest issue of the "Goods Trade Barometer" released by the World Trade Organization this year shows that the global goods trade sentiment index is currently 101.7, slightly lower than January's 102.3, indicating that the growth of goods trade may begin to slow down. According to the compilation rules of the Global Goods Trade Prosperity Index, a value of 100 is used as the benchmark. If the index is greater than 100, it indicates that the growth of global goods trade is higher than expected, otherwise it indicates that the growth is lower than expected.

The report states that the driving factors of goods trade indicate a surge in demand for electronic components related to artificial intelligence, which may to some extent offset the negative impact of the Middle East conflict.
